Loveland police say they have identified a man Saturday night who was struck and killed by a southbound train the night before, though authorities didn't release his name.

Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad officials called authorities shortly before 11 p.m. Friday to report that a pedestrian who had been walking on the train tracks between 37th and 29th streets had been hit. The man had been walking by the tracks before wandering onto the tracks. The train applied its emergency brakes to try to stop, but it was too late, authorities said in news release.

Emergency responders found the man under the train. He did not have any identification on him, and Loveland authorities were asking for the public's help in identifying him. He had been described as being 15 to 20 years old, and 5 feet 6 inches tall and with a medium build.

The case is being turned over to the Larimer County Coroner's Office.
