Alexandra Ruiz went for it during the entrance to her sister's wedding reception this summer. The rest is history - and on the Internet forever.

When Colorado maid of honor Alexandra Ruiz made her entrance at her sister's July wedding reception, she wanted it to be special.

And it was — so much so that a video of it has already been immortalized on the internet, making the rounds on Buzzfeed.com, MSN.com and the Today Show.

The 27-year-old, who owns two Fort Collins-based film production companies, was the maid of honor in her sister Rebecca's July 3 wedding in Larkspur, Colorado.

Wanting to make an entrance with the best man, David Daines, the two tried to psyche out the crowd by announcing they'd be doing the jump from "Dirty Dancing." The plan was for Daines to turn around at the last second, though, allowing Ruiz to jump on his back instead.

"I really went for it," Ruiz said in an email Thursday afternoon. "Like (a) pretty fast pace jog and then jumped SO HIGH."

Ruiz jumped so high, in fact, that she cleared the crouching groomsman completely, toppling forward over him and landing on her back on the ground in front of 200 wedding guests.

"And then as I fell the crowd all together gasps and screams," Ruiz continued. "My mom is shouting, half the audience starts running toward me."

And, looking back at her sister and new brother-in-law, Jake, "they (were) both on the ground uncontrollably laughing."

Ruiz took it all in stride, though. Her aunt sewed her dress right after the fall and she opened her maid of honor speech later that day with a clever "Well, I've already hit rock bottom so now I can say whatever the heck I want..."

Since Ruiz owns Canvas & Light, the wedding film company that filmed her sister's wedding — and her own storied fall — she decided to put the fall video online after the wedding video was complete.

First came the call from Buzzfeed. Then Snapchat got hold of the video. Then MSN.com.

"And the calls started coming in," she said. "I was hearing from people I hadn't talked to in 10 years."

But nothing compared to when The Today Show posted  the video online and included it in its "Daily Click" segment Wednesday morning.

"I woke up at 7 a.m. that morning and had 15 calls from some friends on the East Coast and they were like, 'You were just on the Today Show.'" Ruiz said. "I totally didn't believe it. Then I kept getting more and more calls."

"It's kinda fun. A little surreal. And also kinda awesome," she added. "Who can say they were on the Today Show?"

There is another show Ruiz wouldn't mind her fall being featured on. As a huge fan of Ellen DeGeneres, she's emailed the video to "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" for a chance at redemption.

"I emailed her a couple times telling her that we want to redo the move," Ruiz said. "We just need a little professional training."
