CSU football player arrested on felony charges

Braylin Scott, a starting safety for the CSU football team last fall, was arrested Wednesday by campus police on felony burglary and theft charges.
The charges stem from an April 11 theft from a residence hall room at Aspen Hall, a Colorado spokeswoman said.
An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday following an investigation by the CSU Police Department and review by the Larimer County District Attorney's Office, spokeswoman Dell Rae Ciaravola said in an email.
Scott, 19, turned himself in to CSU Police, she said.
He was booked into the Larimer County Jail, records show, on three counts – burglary of a dwelling, a Class 3 felony; theft of property valued at $5,000 to $20,000, a Class 5 felony; and Class 5 felony burglary.
An arrest report was not available Thursday, Ciaravola said, and the district attorney's office did not respond to requests for additional information.

Coach Mike Bobo said Scott was suspended from the football team as soon as he learned of the incident, based on the severity of the charges.
“We have been monitoring the situation involving Braylin Scott since first becoming aware of it at the time of the incident," Bobo said through a school spokesman. "I was concerned enough about the details I had learned that I made the decision to suspend him from all team activities at that time, based on preliminary information. He remains suspended from the program, and we will continue to monitor the legal proceedings.”
Scott's initial court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, before Larimer County Judge Stephen Enderlin Howard.
Scott, who will be a junior this fall, started seven of the 11 games he played last season for CSU and finished the year with a team-leading three interceptions. He was the Rams' seventh-leading tackler with 39, including 20 solo stops.

Scott missed spring practices while recovering from surgery to repair a broken wrist and was not listed on the two-deep depth chart Bobo released following the April 22 spring game.
Scott is from Bakersfield, California.
He is the third CSU football player to be arrested in the past four months.
Hunter Donnelly, a linebacker from Arlington, Texas, was arrested by campus police April 19 for violating a protection order, a Class 2 misdemeanor, and has a disposition hearing scheduled June 6 before Larimer County Judge Kraig Ecton.

Nicho Garcia, an offensive lineman from Overland Park, Kansas, was arrested Jan. 27 by Fort Collins police on misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief and harassment for an altercation with a neighbor Oct. 16 at his off-campus apartment complex. He has a disposition hearing scheduled May 30 before Larimer County Court Judge Thomas Lynch.
