CSU police seeking suspects after reported robbery, sexual assault

Two men reportedly robbed and sexually assaulted a woman early Sunday morning on CSU's campus.

Two men reportedly robbed and sexually assaulted a woman early Sunday morning on CSU's campus.

Colorado State University police are searching for the suspects, both of whom were wearing hoodies, according to a news release. Police did not provide any other description of the men.

The men reportedly assaulted the woman near the intersection of Pitkin Street and Meridian Avenue about 3 a.m. CSU sent out a campuswide alert regarding the incident about 6:15 a.m.

Anyone with information is asked to call CSUPD at 970-491-6425.

According to CSU's annual safety report, 22 rape and fondling crimes were reported to CSU police in 2015, the most recent data available online. In 2014, police received 28 reports. In 2013, they received 19.

The school's Women and Gender Advocacy Center served a greater number of survivors of sexual and interpersonal violence. During the 2015-2016 school year, the center served 484 people who were affected by interpersonal violence, including sexual assault, intimate partner violence and stalking. During the 2014-2015 school year, the center served 211. In 2013-2014, it served 176.

About 50 percent of students who sought services at the center were there for sexual assault, according to data provided by the center.

The Women and Gender Advocacy Center provides support for students who have experienced trauma, including sexual assault. Students can call the center's 24/7 Victim Assistance Team at 970-492-4242 or meet with an advocate during business hours.

Community members can call the 24/7 Rape Crisis Hotline at 970-472-4200, which is staffed by the Sexual Assault Victim Advocate Center.
