UPDATE 10/12:Manhunt suspect pleads guilty, faces decades in prison

The man suspected of leading local law enforcement on a 14-hour manhunt was wheeled into a Fort Collins courtroom by sheriff's deputies for his first appearance Thursday.

Adam Fulford has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft, vehicular eluding, child abuse, vehicular assault and felony menacing, in addition to other charges.

Adam Fulford arrived at the Larimer County Justice Center wrapped in a thick tunic but with bare legs and feet. When he bumped his right arm on a table in the courtroom, he called out in pain, apologized to Eighth Judicial District Judge Gregory Lammons and explained that his arm was broken. He only spoke a few other times to answer procedural questions and ask for a public defender.

Fulford, 33, is accused of leading authorities on a 14-hour manhunt last week that culminated in a high-speed chase and crash in Loveland. He was released Tuesday after hospitalization at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. He was then booked into the Larimer County Jail on suspicion of 14 felony charges, including aggravated robbery and vehicular assault, as well as charges related to warrants for two previous criminal cases.

The district attorney’s office has not yet filed formal charges in the newest case, but said formal charges were expected later Thursday.

Lammons granted two additional no-contact orders for victims from Fulford's most recent case during the appearance. Lammons also increased Fulford's bond in his March case related to alleged possession of heroin and several firearms while prohibited. Prosecutors argued that they had a "tremendous amount of concern" about the previous case in light of last week's manhunt.

Sheriff's deputies attempted to arrest Fulford at a central Fort Collins apartment Thursday evening when he reportedly fled, shot a taxi driver and eluded police overnight. The manhunt came to an end Friday morning when Fulford reportedly carjacked a Toyota Prius near Larimer County Road 38E and Centennial Drive before crashing into a Subaru at U.S. Highway 34 and Wilson Avenue in Loveland.

Tara Hildebrand was driving her two children in the Subaru when they were reportedly struck by Fulford at the end of the car chase. Hildebrand was listed in good condition and her 9-year-old daughter was listed in fair condition at Medical Center of the Rockies on Thursday morning. Hildebrand's 11-year-old son was released from the hospital earlier. Supporters have set up an online fundraiser through GoFundMe for the family. It had raised nearly $26,000 by Thursday morning.

Fulford remains in custody at the Larimer County Jail on three bonds that amount to more than $525,000. He's next due in court Monday.
