The fourth annual Poudre River Forum will examine the river’s connections to people and nature as it flows from the forest to the plains.

The forum, sponsored by the Poudre Runs Through It Study/Action Work Group, is scheduled 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Island Grove Events Center, 501 N. 14th Ave., in Greeley. Pre-registration is required.

Organizers say the forum brings together people from agricultural, municipal, business, recreational, and environmental backgrounds to learn about and discuss issues related to the Poudre River.

This year’s topics include the connection between forest health and water diverted on the plains; how variability and uncertainty affect agricultural, urban, and environmental sectors alike; and how much the Poudre has changed since the 1960s.

The keynote speaker is Brian Richter, chief scientist with the water program of The Nature Conservancy in Washington, D.C., and author of “Chasing Water: A Guide for Moving from Scarcity to Sustainability.”

Registration is $50 and includes lunch and a reception. Scholarships for students and reduced rates are available. The deadline to register is Jan. 27.
