A man accused of attempted murder was arrested Friday in Fort Collins.

On Friday, law enforcement officers in Fort Collins arrested a Fort Morgan man accused of homicide in El Salvador and attempted murder in Morgan County.

Angel Ramos, 36, is a suspected MS-13 gang member accused of stabbing a woman earlier this month in Morgan County, according to a Morgan County Sheriff's Office news release.

Investigators say that on Nov. 4, Ramos stabbed his victim with a screwdriver inside a moving vehicle. When she jumped out to escape, the car ran over her leg, according to the news release. Ramos reportedly tried to force her into the trunk before fleeing.

She was treated for her injuries at a hospital and later released.

When investigators searched his home after the reported attack, they found falsified documents with fictitious names, according to the news release. At that point, investigators enlisted the help of United States Marshals and Homeland Security.

During this process, they positively identified Ramos and linked him to the homicide in El Salvador, according to the news release. No other details about the El Salvador homicide were available Saturday.

Investigators found him in the 3600 block of Manhattan Avenue in Fort Collins on Friday. They arrested him on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and kidnapping, according to the news release. Fort Collins Police Services officers, U.S. Marshals and Homeland Security agents assisted with the arrest.

Saturday morning, he was being held in the Larimer County Jail without bond.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office is still investigating this case and has asked anyone with information to contact investigator Shauna Ponce at 970-867-2461.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in court. Arrests and charges are merely accusations by law enforcement until, and unless, a suspect is convicted of a crime.
