Colorado State sets enrollment record

Colorado State University set new records this fall for overall enrollment and its roster of incoming freshmen and transfer students.

According to a university news release, 33,198 students can call themselves Rams this semester. It's the first time the university's overall enrollment has topped 33,000. Of those students, 5,036 are freshmen, a 5.9 percent increase over the previous freshmen enrollment record of 4,737 set last year.

“We are delighted that students from all corners of Colorado — and far beyond — are choosing CSU to take advantage of our outstanding degree programs, interact with our world-class faculty and enjoy our beautiful campus here in Fort Collins,” CSU Provost Rick Miranda said in a statement.

Other highlights from CSU:

  • 67 percent of students now graduate within six years of starting at CSU; 53.2 percent graduate within four and a half years and 44.8 percent graduate in four years.
  • 1,674 students transferred to CSU this year
  • 8,500 students are low-income, first-generation or disabled.
  • 871 veterans or their dependents are enrolled at CSU.

“We’re gaining a well-deserved reputation for student success; our students are graduating in record numbers, prepared for careers and/or further study," Miranda said. "We strive to be an affordable option for students and families, while not compromising on quality or student support.”
