Two customers robbed outside Larimer County pot shop

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help in finding a pair of suspects who reportedly robbed two people of their recently purchased marijuana at a Fort Collins-area dispensary.

An employee at Choice Organics, 813 Smithfield Drive, near Interstate 25, called 911 at about 8 p.m. Wednesday to report a man and woman were approached outside by two men. One of the men indicated he was armed and then robbed the patrons of the marijuana they had just purchased.

The two suspects fled on foot eastbound, jumped in a vehicle and drove away before law enforcement arrived.

They are described as white men in their late teens or early 20s. One is about 6 feet tall and was wearing dark-colored baggy shorts and a dark hooded sweatshirt, and he might have facial hair. The other man, slightly shorter, was wearing light-colored baggy shorts, multi-colored short sleeve T-shirt and hat.

The vehicle was described as a late-model gray Dodge Charger.

Surveillance video posted online shows the two suspects arriving at a parking lot nearby and approaching the business.

The two people who were robbed were visiting Colorado, and neither were injured.

Wednesday's incident at Choice Organics marked the second time people reportedly targeted the business or its customers. In March 2015, two men were arrested after deputies said they smashed a truck into a door, barged inside and took marijuana plants. The suspects in that case, two men from Boulder, sped south on I-25 and got to Loveland before wrecking their pickup in a culvert. They ran into a field but surrendered when police threatened to deploy a K-9 unit.

Choice Organics is one of two licensed marijuana businesses outside of Fort Collins in Larimer County. There are about a dozen licensed retail marijuana businesses in Fort Collins, according to state records.
