Update: The Larimer County Coroner's Office identified the inmate who died as 35-year-old Lacy Briles. The coroner's office ruled her death a suicide.

A Larimer County Jail inmate died Wednesday, one day after jail deputies found her unresponsive in her cell.

The Larimer County Coroner's Office identified the woman as 35-year-old Lacy Briles and ruled her death a suicide. Briles was being held in jail after she was arrested at a Loveland Walmart in late November on suspicion of second-degree burglary and theft.

Jail staff members found her unresponsive around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday while doing routine checks. They attempted to revive her while they waited for an ambulance to take her to a local hospital, where she was placed on life support.

She died Wednesday at an area hospital, Larimer County Sheriff's Office spokesman David Moore said.

The sheriff's office is investigating the incident, which is protocol any time an inmate dies while in custody.

This marks the first time a Larimer County Jail inmate has died in custody since 2014, when a 57-year-old inmate died after being taken to the hospital for treatment of pre-existing health conditions.

There are currently 573 inmates in the jail, according to the sheriff's office website.
