More than $51,300 was raised Saturday for an 8-year-old Wellington boy diagnosed with leukemia.

Weld and Larimer counties' sheriffs' offices partnered with the Colorado Eagles hockey team Saturday for the annual "Pot of Gold" fundraiser aimed at helping families care for a sick child. This year's fundraiser went toward helping Parker Hobbs and his family.

Parker was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2013, according to a news release from the Weld County Sheriff's Office.

In April 2014, the family was informed by their insurance provider that Parker's treatment would no longer be covered, a release from the Colorado Eagles said. Parker has since rolled into the "maintenance" phase of his treatment but the family continues to struggle with the bills that were accumulated during his three years of treatments

Money raised Saturday will help Parker and and his family offset the cost of his treatment.

Since its inception in 2012, the Eagles' "Pot of Gold" fundraiser has raised nearly $150,000 for four Northern Colorado families facing the financial hardships that come with caring for an sick child.
