The Fort Collins man who was hit by a car last week while walking in a crosswalk has died.

Kyle Hibler, 30, died Sunday at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. Hibler at about 6:30 a.m. Thursday was crossing Prospect Road at Shields Street in Fort Collins when a 1999 Ford Contour, driven by 29-year-old Christopher Gribble, smashed into him. The impact of the crash shattered the sedan's driver-side windshield, and Hibler landed several yards east of the crosswalk.

Hibler was treated and transported to Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he remained in critical condition for several days. The cause of death was deemed to be multiple blunt force trauma, the Larimer County Coroner's Office confirmed.

Fort Collins police are continuing to investigate who had the right of way at the time of the crash. Additional details about whether Gribble would be charged were not immediately available, though investigators said previously they do not believe drugs or alcohol are to blame.

Anyone with additional information is asked to call officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.

Hibler was the second vehicle-related fatality in Larimer County of 2015. By this time last year, one person had died.
