A Loveland man accused of assaulting and killing a Greeley man after the two argued while riding a bus back from Blackhawk has been sentenced to serve up to six years in prison.

Cory James Nix, 32, was sentenced Thursday after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter, a class-4 felony that carries a sentence of two to six years, in the death of 41-year-old Billy Kirk Page.

Nix reportedly assaulted Page in February, once the Greeley man left the chartered bus the two were riding. Nix was sentenced to serve six years, with 41 days credit for time served, and was remanded into custody, a District Attorney's Office spokeswoman said.

Page was found unresponsive and lying in the Chilson Recreation Center's parking lot in Loveland on the afternoon of Feb. 16. He was taken by ambulance to Medical Center of the Rockies, where he was pronounced dead. Nix was arrested that day after coming back to the parking lot to speak with police, according to earlier reports in the Coloradoan.
