Colorado State University's governing board approved a motion involving naming rights for the new on-campus stadium, but school officials have declined to say whether any agreement has been reached.

The motion, under the heading of “CSU Naming Opportunity – On-Campus Stadium,” was presented following an executive session during the Dec. 10 meeting of the CSU Board of Governors in Denver. It carried unanimously, according to minutes made public last month.

The motion referred to an item in the board’s resolutions book that was not available in the version made public when the board held its next meeting Feb. 4-5.

School spokesman Mike Hooker said Tuesday there was nothing further the university could say about the motion. Another request for comment about whether or not the university has entered into a naming-rights agreement or signed a naming-rights contract went unanswered Wednesday and Thursday. CSU was closed Wednesday because of heavy snow but reopened Thursday morning.

The feasibility report prepared in 2012 for the new $220 million on-campus stadium at CSU included an estimated $400,000 to $750,000 annual revenue from a naming-rights agreement. The average annual revenue for naming rights of college football stadiums in 2014 was $823,193, according to a story and database compiled by BusinessofCollegeSports.com.

The stadium is expected to be ready for the 2017 football season.

Motions involving two other naming-rights issues related to the university art museum also were discussed in executive session during the Dec. 10 meeting and passed unanimously afterward, according to the minutes.
