Host calls police to break up 200-person party near CSU

The host of a party called police around midnight to report the event in the 500 block of Blevins Court had gotten too big, said Lt. Jeremy Yonce with Fort Collins Police Services.

When officers initially arrived on scene at 12:10 a.m., they encountered approximately 200 people, some of whom began throwing rocks and bottles toward the officers, Yonce said.

"There were also some reports of people jumping on cars," he added.

Approximately 25 units—mostly Fort Collins police—responded to the scene and worked to disperse the crowd, and police lingered in the area until around 2 a.m. Officers including some from the CSUPD staged deeper on campus to ensure crowds didn't interfere with the Relay For Life, which went on through the night.

No citations were immediately issued, though additional investigation is still possible, Yonce said.

No injuries were reported.
