Public input wanted on Estes Park vacation rentals
Larimer County is seeking input Saturday on proposed changes to rules for residential properties in the Estes Valley that are rented out to vacationers.
The county and the town of Estes Park have been gathering input for months on proposed rule changes. Short-term vacation rentals are banned in unincorporated Larimer County, but allowed in Estes Park town limits, provided occupancy is capped at eight people. The new rules would apply to both the town and unincorporated parts of the Estes Valley.
MORE:
Proposals include a tiered system for maximum rental occupancy, increasing the occupancy limit to 18 guests. Rentals seeking to house the upper tier, of nine to 18 guests, would be subject to a conditional use permit, which owners need to receive from town or county staff. Rentals for eight or fewer guests are largely allowed by right, according to draft documents. Permitting for a vacation rental would be $150, plus $50 per room, annually.
No decision will be made Saturday. The event will run from 9 a.m. to noon at the Estes Park Events Center, 1125 Rooftop Way, in Estes Park. More information on the proposals can be found at www.estes.org/vacationrentals.
